AsparaBus Guided Tours

Our AsparaBus guided tours will be running on:

• 7th May from Worcester, Drakes Broughton & Pershore
• 14th May from Redditch, Studley & Alcester
• 21st May from Bromsgrove & Droitwich Spa

Various pick-up points will be available around the district.

Included in your Asparabus Tour

Your guided Asparagus Experience will begin with a short tour around the horticultural Vale of Evesham.

A morning coffee break will be taken in the 16th century barn of the famous Fleece Inn at Bretforton. Owned by the National Trust, it is the home of the legendary Asparagus (Gras) Auctions which have taken place for decades.

After touring even more of the delightful Vale, upon arrival at The Almonry Heritage Centre you will experience the “Asparagus Showcase”. An opportunity to learn about the history of asparagus, see it growing, marvel at the old and new machinery and talk to a local expert.

A lunchtime stop in the market town of Evesham gives you the chance to savour fresh, local asparagus. A selection of eating places serving this most quintessential of English vegetables will be suggested to you.

During the afternoon your Asparabus tour continues on the “Gras” trail and
you will visit the Plant Centre at Pershore College offering an extensive selection of College grown plants, trees and shrubs, not to mention the opportunity to buy your own Asparagus Crowns - you will be offered a 10% discount on all main horticultural lines, and even be offered a free tasting of the Colleges’ very own apple juice.

If you have only ever seen and tasted green asparagus, and want to sample the less well known purple variety, our visit to Revills Farm Shop in Defford will be the perfect end to an asparagus filled day. Following a short talk by the grower and a walk to see it growing in the fields, why not buy some to take home for tea! Enjoy some free time to browse the farm shop, or even sample a cream tea in their licensed tea rooms before your waiting Asparabus takes you home to reflect on your “Grassy” filled day.

To enjoy this Asparabus Tour to its full potential there are certain elements of the “Experience” which will require significant amounts of walking. Please ensure your footwear is suitable.

Price includes the services of an experienced Asparaguide, all transportation and participation of “The Asparagus Showcase”. The cost of meals and refreshments are NOT included in this price.
