Itinerary

Your ‘aspara’ journey will start with a morning coffee break in the 16th century barn of the famous Fleece Inn at Bretforton. This National Trust property won Visit England’s Tourism Pub of the Year 2016, and has played an enormous and fascinating part in six centuries of history. The Fleece Inn is home to the legendary Asparagus (Gras) Auctions, which have been a tradition for decades and hosts the start of the Great English Asparagus Run, celebrating the Asparagus Festival launch and St George’s day.

Learn about the history of asparagus and watch an asparagus tying demonstration – all this to educate your inner connoisseur to cook perfect asparagus.

After touring the Vale countryside, you will arrive for a lunch break in the market town of Evesham; here you will have the chance to savour fresh and local asparagus. A selection of eating places will serve you the most quintessential of English vegetables.

Your asparabus tour continues to Revills Farm Shop in Defford, where you can purchase your own asparagus to share with friends and family at home.

Listen to an entertaining yet informative talk by the host (also a asparagus grower), followed by a tantalising cooking demonstration by a local chef. Don’t forget to pick up your free demonstration recipes cards, to prepare these gourmet dishes yourself.

Enjoy free time to browse the farm shop or even buy cream tea in their licensed tea room, before boarding your awaiting asparabus to take you home and reflect on your ‘Gras’ filled day in the Vale.
